Recorded exports of USD 8,952,000 (approximately KRW 11.7 billion) last year
Atomy toothpaste has achieved the highest ranking in quasi-drug exports in 2023.
According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the market size of quasi-drug products in South Korea saw a significant decline. The production of quarantine supplies, including masks and external disinfectants, decreased by 69.2%, leading to an overall reduction of 21.4% compared to the previous year. However, when excluding quarantine products, the market size stood at KRW 1.4359 trillion, up 7.1% from KRW 1.3413 trillion in 2022.
The most popular item that topped the production performance of quasi-drugs was a toothpaste that featured a production performance of KRW 418.8 billion, followed by tonic and restorative products (KRW 338.5 billion), menstrual supplies (KRW 303.8 billion), masks (KRW 184.2 billion), and bandages (KRW 140.4 billion). The total production performance of these top five product groups added up to KRW 1.3857 trillion, accounting for 82.4% of the overall quasi-drug production performance (KRW 1.6822 trillion).
Atomy toothpaste achieved the highest export performance among quasi-drug products last year, recording an export value of USD 8,952,000 (approximately KRW 11.7 billion). Young Chemical’s Somadermspot-S secured the second position with exports totaling USD 5.504 million, while Amorepacific’s Median Tartar White Toothpaste ranked third with USD 2.522 million in exports.
Atomy toothpaste is produced by Kolmar Korea and sold by Atomy.
