Atomy donates KRW 2.1 billion to PMCI for mobile healthcare in Cambodia

Atomy provides effective healthcare to those who are underserved

Atomy has donated KRW 2.1 billion to People for Medical Cooperation International (PMCI). PMCI is an NGO currently conducting medical volunteer activities in areas with underdeveloped medical services, such as Cambodia and Myanmar. After signing a memorandum of understanding with PMCI in 2020, Atomy has developed an ongoing cooperation with the organization, including the donation of mobile healthcare buses to Cambodia. The latest donation of KRW 2.1 billion will be used to operate the existing mobile healthcare buses, purchase pathology equipment and provide professional training for PMCI employees.

PMCI is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 that aims to promote the growth of underdeveloped regions through medical outreach. Current projects include ▲human resource development, ▲social, cultural, and educational international exchanges, and ▲international exchanges in the health and environmental fields. One special area of focus for the organization is to develop human resource capabilities by dispatching and training specialized personnel to countries with underdeveloped medical services. A further goal is to provide support for foreign workers in South Korea.

With Atomy’s full cooperation, PMCI is expanding its medical outreach to underserved communities in Cambodia. It also plans to collaborate with Cambodia’s Jesus Hospital, which will open in October, to create a more effective medical support system. In particular, PMCI is looking forward to building a network with local health centers to help with medical ministry. It is also committed to training local medical staff and missionary work. The Myanmar branch of PMCI is run by an American Baptist pastor and conducts missionary activities centered around multicultural and English-language education, while the focus of the Cambodia branch is on medical and missionary activities via mobile medical vehicles and Cambodia’s Jesus Hospital.
