Korean global direct selling distribution company Atomy has made the 'Best Workplaces' list for the third consecutive year.

Beating out major companies such as LG Energy Solution, Daewoong Pharmaceutical, Daesang, GS Retail, and SK Networks, Atomy ranked 5th at the '21st 100 Best Workplaces in Korea' awards that took place on the 24th in the Grand Ballroom of the 63 Building in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, hosted by the 'Great Places to Work Institute', a global management consulting organization. The number one to four spots went to foreign companies.

CEO Han-gill Park was also voted the 'Most Respected CEO in Korea' for the third year in a row. Chief Broadcasting Officer (CBO) Tae-won Kim was named 'Innovation Leader in Korea', while Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Kyung-hee Kim was named 'Proud Working Mom'.

In line with its company motto of '“Cherish the Spirit”', Atomy was recognized once again for its free and enterprising work environment, since the first time around in 2021.

“When you trust employees, they will give their best and believe that they are working for a great company. That’s why I gave up my human resources and decision-making authority from the beginning with regard to management, which turned out to be successful,” said Park.

Atomy’s love for its employees is unique, and like no other company.

As manifested by its company motto of '“Cherish the Spirit”', Atomy employees are considered living beings essential to mutual growth and development rather than mere members of the organizationPark  affirmed, “Under no circumstances can people be considered a means to an end. They themselves are the end. Employees in and of themselves are the end. They cannot be a means to an end.”

Atomy’s philosophy of cows and babies speaks to this.''Ranchers value cows because of the profit they bring in, but mothers treasure babies out of love and appreciation rather than the benefits they provideThis isn’t just a simple expression.

In fact, even if it’s a supervisor’s instructions, Atomy employees talk things through if something doesn’t sit right with them, until either the supervisor or they are persuaded.

This is thanks to the self-confident, chutzpah mentality where employees dare to say what is on their mind to anyone and everyone rather than getting hung up on formality and authority.''

Park created a horizontal organizational structure to make this possible, with the belief in mind that “no one is above or below anyone and every soul is equally important.”

Atomy growing into one of the 'Best Workplaces' is ultimately thanks to its established objective of becoming a 'sustainable company'.

Park suggested, “To become a sustainable company, it must first enable every employee to be the CEO. To this end, it must create an environment where employees can work on their own. This is why we stress the importance of chutzpah and created a horizontal organization. We established a system where maximum authority, including decision-making, is delegated without attributing responsibility.” “It has resulted in success. Every employee works actively, creating synergies that drive us toward our primary objective. Being named among the Best Workplaces is just one achievement to come out of it,” he emphasized.

Next is the interview with CMO Kyung-hee Kim and CBO Tae-won Kim, who were both presented with awards along with CEO Park.

'Proud Working Mom' CMO Kyung-hee Kim

CMO Kim is a mother of two. It is duly impressive that the general manager for marketing who led Atomy’s explosive growth is not an unwed person who is married to her work. This is attributable to the fact that in Korea it is virtually impossible to be a career woman and a mother at the same time.''

She stated, "If it weren't for our flexible work environment and organizational culture, compatibility between work and family would have been unthinkable,” ascribing her naming as Proud Working Mom to Atomy.''

Among the reasons for such, she named the corporate culture guaranteeing the personal autonomy of employees, such as flexible work hours even before the COVID-19 pandemic and free seating, the exciting workspace of Atomy Park that came with the new company grounds opened in 2019 in Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do, and several support measures that include maternity grants, overseas family vacation promotions for employees, and welfare cards.''

CMO Kim proudly stated, “As a working mom, I would say Atomy is beyond a great workplace for working moms in that I couldn’t ask for more.'''''It is worthy of its ranking among the top 5 Best Workplaces for working moms.”'

CBO Tae-won Kim, Innovation Leader in Korea''

CBO Kim humbly said, “I’m flustered to be called an innovation leader when I have never innovated. I simply absorbed myself in what I do best and focused on producing the best outcome.”

However, his significant contribution cannot be overlooked.

As Atomy actively expands its operations both domestically and abroad, the importance of video marketing targeting hundreds of thousands of members is becoming increasingly emphasized, with simultaneous broadcasts of major and minor events across the country every month, as well as multiple broadcasts beyond Korea that bring together those who are overseas.''

Within the industry, there are no other companies known to invest in videos in the same way as Atomy. Broadcasters are even said to be in awe of Atomy’s broadcasting system and video quality.

Broadcasting companies and professional video productions are unsurprisingly expected to broadcast smoothly without a single hitch, but it is a different story for the Atomy video team. The mere fact that a distribution company can do so is innovation in itself, the architect of which is none other than CBO Kim.''

He firmly stated, “Problems will always arise. Solving them is what formed the Atomy video team of today. If innovation is the net result of wanting to show our members a better video, I will gladly continue to innovate.”
