Interview with Chairman Mongsang Han-Gill Park
Mongsang Han-Gill Park is the captain of the global Atomy ship. Despite the ruthless storms in 2020, the Atomy ship sailed high. 
What new dreams does Mongsang have in this fresh spring? He unveiled his ideas for Atomy’s present and future.



This year’s slogan is “Genius of the AND” (兩者擇二). What does this mean? 
Atomy has always been the "Genius of the AND" who chooses both when presented with two options. I want to interpret it as “choosing every option” (多者擇多). There are people who do not like complicated things. The world is not a simple place, but they want the world to let them do simple thinking and actions. One of the characteristics of these people is that their lives are difficult. Atomy does not disregard any of the contrasts; Absolute Quality:Absolute Price, customer expansion:membership expansion, offline business:online business, domestic business:overseas business, passion:relaxation, and discipline (justice):mercy (compassion). In order to achieve both, intense effort, or dedication, is required.

Usually, we talk about choice and focus. 
That is considered ordinary. That is what it says in business administration textbooks. If it is common enough to be in a textbook, anyone can do it. Companies that cannot even do what is written in textbooks have already failed and are gone. The world is not easy enough for ordinary people to succeed. I have always said, "reject the ordinary" and "be extraordinary". Could it have been this successful if Atomy had focused on either quality or price? Because I chose an extraordinary path, Atomy is where it is today. Even if it is complicated and difficult, going on that extraordinary path is being the Genius of the AND, and transcendental. 

Social distancing continues.
Quarantine rules must be followed. Online business was the direction of the future. The wind of COVID-19 blew in the direction to go. Atomy’s transition to online was faster than any other company. This is because Atomy predicted it and prepared for it. It is time to work harder for Pop & Fun video content. Even if we can all meet offline again, the use of online resources will continue. We must be the Genius of the AND. We must choose both online and offline. It seems difficult and complicated to have both, but the two are complementary and create much greater synergy.

Business owners have a fair amount of know-how in the offline business, but not in the online business. 
What should be done? 
It will soon become familiar. Many lines have already started to do business online. On YouTube, I watch Atomy business owners broadcast or do zoom meetings whenever I have a chance. I think this is really good. In particular, the global offices grew by 40% last year.

Atomy Personal Platform (APP) to be released this year will be as innovative as the Absolute Quality Absolute Price principle. I am sure you have heard a lot about platforms, like Google or Amazon. Through APP, Atomy members will become the owners of the platform business. Futurologists predict that wealth will be concentrated on platforms. Yet, it is impossible for individuals to own and operate complex platform businesses. This is why Atomy helps its business owners create and run personal platforms. It is an another-level concept.

Personal Platform owners can display Atomy products that they like, and create and upload their own contents. Like personal blogs and forums, you can answer questions from consumers or business partners. You can also promote your platform address (URL) through online and offline activities. APP can connect not only Atomy members but also non-members who are consumers. This system will make Atomy soar higher to the next level. 

If you look at blogs and forums run by Atomy business owners, there are concerns about exaggerated advertisements and copyright issues. 
How will these issues be managed on the Personal Platforms? 
There is a patented method for this. Atomy has already obtained a patent for the method of determining and filtering the suitability of content uploaded by members on their personal platforms using artificial intelligence. This patent is the 'Apparatus and Method for Inspecting Access to Marketing Content'. 

It is very difficult for members to check whether the content they upload to their platforms is exaggerated advertising, or if there are any copyright issues. This is why Atomy made an AI system to automatically filter such things. This patent is of great interest in academia, as several doctoral dissertations on this subject will soon be published. Through these efforts, members will be able to manage their Personal Platforms more safely and efficiently.

Will you also support the global market?
There are no national borders online. Personal Platform owners can communicate with partners and consumers not only in South Korea but also from all over the world, including the US, China, the UK, Russia, Taiwan, and Japan, through automatic text and voice translation systems. We can approach the world as one single market.

If the Personal Platform plays its role well, many competitors will most likely copy it. Are there any countermeasures? 
The ‘System and Method for Providing Closed Electronic Commerce Service Based on Personal Platform’ is also patented. Competitors may be able to copy the Personal Platform in a similar fashion, but the core competitiveness of the platform will be impossible to duplicate.

Atomy has Absolute Quality Absolute Price principle, Global Sourcing Global Sales (GSGS) strategy, Customer Success System, Global One Market system, infinite-level compensation plan, and the magnetic board system that support APP. These things cannot be replicated by competitors. Even if they do, there is nothing to worry about. Because by the time they copy us, we will have been several steps ahead of them by transcending other dimensions. 

Why did you define the vision of the company as the Customers' Success?
You can think that a company’s success is built on the foundation of the customer’s success. No company can succeed without customers. That is why I think this is also about becoming the Genius of the AND. If a company failed because it only served its customers, then that company would be foolish. However, in comparison to such a foolish case, there are, relatively speaking, a lot more cases in which a company fails because there is no customer base, as the company only serves itself and does not take care of its customers. 

You can think of it like this. Many identify serving customers with being good. Rather, it is being smart. People hardly can think of a company that puts the customers' benefits before the company's interest. That is why there are few good companies, and that is why many end up serving only themselves and fail. But that is foolish rather than bad. 

What we say, that the success of our customers comes first, is a smart choice rather than a good one. Many people say to me, “Don’t lose your initial determination!” However, I do not think I need to be concerned about losing my initial determination. This is because although there is a chance that a good person can become bad, it is highly unlikely that a smart person can become foolish. Therefore, it is not because we are good but because we are smart that the success of the customer comes first. 

Can we continue to maintain Absolute Quality and Absolute Price while production costs are rising gradually?
I would not be worried about that. This is because when we talk about Absolute Quality and Absolute Price, we are talking about the best quality for the same price, and the lowest price for the same quality. Atomy is the only company that can sell HemoHIM at this price. If production costs increase, they increase for everyone. Then, other companies will raise their prices. Since our prices are already the Absolute Prices, we just need to raise our prices a little bit. Therefore, we continue to be the leader.

Atomy achieved great results in the overseas market last year. Can we expect more than 100 overseas offices?
Do we need to have 100 overseas offices? I do not think that the specific number is significant. We need not to set any goals like aiming to open 100 regional offices. The most fundamental element of our business once we enter a region is economic feasibility. What if we entered a certain country even though we had no chance of overcoming the break-even point, just to fill an arbitrary number like 100? That would be foolish. Therefore, the number 100 is meaningless. 

Currently, there are only a few countries, perhaps up to 50, where it is worthwhile for Atomy to enter and do business. However, if the economic levels of other countries rise significantly in 20-30 years, allowing Atomy to make profits, then we will enter these markets. 

For example, in Africa, apart from three or four countries, most of the continent is difficult for Atomy to enter and do better than the break-even. Economic development in the continent, however, will open up more markets where we can meet the break-even and more. In a nutshell, it is meaningless to set a goal of "we should enter this many countries by this time" and the standard should be whether entering that region is economically viable or not.

Recently, Atomy was selected as a good company to work for. What do you think is a good company to work for? 
If the employees say, “this is a great company to work for,” I believe it is a great compliment to the Chairman. So, I am very grateful. In fact, Atomy is a good company to be a Chairman of. The executives and employees are doing well in their respective positions. The only part that I have contributed to creating a good company to work for is that I trusted the employees' honesty and competence and entrusted the company to them. 

What kind of company do you want Atomy to continue to be?
There are many aspects. First of all, it should be a good company for customers. Atomy should offer products of Absolute Quality and Absolute Price, and even more. It is important that Atomy contributes to this society. For example, it should be a so-called good company, a company that does not harm the environment and takes social responsibility. It should become a valuable company for the community, the country, and all of mankind. 

Another thing to think about is feedback from the customers. We need to communicate quickly with customers with an open mind. We deal with a large number of customers, and each has their own demands. There was once an era of everyone thinking the same way. Until very recently, it was many people thinking many different ways. But now, we have entered an era of one person thinking many different ways. 

We need to quickly accommodate the various needs of our customers. I am not the standard. “The customer is always right.” Customers are asking for more and more. Our actions must be faster than the demands of our customers. The company should be able to present things that a customer needs before the customer even feels the need for it. When this happens, the customer should be able to respond that “Wow, I hadn’t even thought of that, but it would be great to have!” Also, in the case of cosmetics and health functional foods, where it is difficult to determine the quality just by the appearance, customers should respond to these products after using them “Wow, I didn’t even imagine that this product would be so effective.” 

For example, in the case of Atomy cosmetics or HemoHim, many customers are often surprised by the effectiveness that exceeds their expectations and become a business owner. The product must be a product that customers cannot say no to, and once selected, the product must become a ‘lifetime product’ that the customer uses forever. In this way, the vision of customer success becomes sustainable.

Is there anything you want to say to the beginners of Atomy business?
When starting the Atomy business, the first and necessary step is to fully understand Atomy through contents on Channel Atomy and YouTube. I recommend watching five videos, 20 minutes long each, for two hours a day. Of course, there is a limit to theoretical study alone, but I believe it will still be more effective than starting the business without knowing the theory. 

Also, it is good to study the products, but it is necessary to try the products as well. And it is difficult to understand the compensation system even if you study it. However, once you receive the general commission, you will understand it quickly. Character is also extremely important! Altruism is much better than selfishness, of course. When you do Atomy business, you ask people you meet, "How many more years do you think you can do the work you do? Do you have a concrete retirement plan for 30 years after you can no longer work?" I often ask people these questions. Generally, people will have frustration on their faces. You can recommend the Atomy business as an alternative for those who do not have such plans. If you explain to them that it is a business that creates the basis for retirement plans while using good products inexpensively, they will show interest.
